SMOOTHIE RECIPE

When the temperature hits 100 degrees in Portland the last thing I’m going to do is turn on the stove. Yeah we ate out both nights it was in the 100s and Little was in french fry heaven yet all I could think about was getting home and making my recipe for a dark chocolate blackberry smoothie.  Blackberries are an invasive, prickly bush but I manage to convince Mr. Bejelly  not to cut them down/poison them/set them on fire so I can pick fresh ripe blackberries every year.

SMOOTHIE RECIPE

This recipe is really simple and quick.  I have the crappiest blender on earth but I mange to wait the 8 minutes it takes to whip this up without whining too much.  I can’t really do ice cream because it’s just too sweet for me so this satisfies my craving for a nice cold drink and my sweet tooth.

    • I love blackberries. I’ve been simmering them on the stove top making a quick compote for pancakes in the morning and I would have to say it’s one of my all time favorite smells. If I wore a perfume it would be blackberry fragrance. Sorry no blackberries but trust me, once it sprouts, you’ll be up to your ears in them.

  1. Mmmm… I think I am going to try this with almond milk. I might have to substitute cherries or strawberries. I don’t think the market around the corner has blackberries… but I might be wrong.
