A million years ago, I didn’t give a hoot about what my food was cooked in. Pots and pans we just vehicles to a good meal and I learned quickly that this wasn’t the case. I learned that by cooking my families meals in nonstick pans, I was also feeding them perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) – carcinogen. I immediately started looking at alternatives and settled on cast iron and stainless steel.
Why Cast Iron?
You’ll get excellent heat retention and a pan that can withstand high heats without an issue. Also, as you use your cast iron pan it will develop a nonstick surface. You can hand these pans down to your family line
Heavy. Although, you will tone up your arms 🙂
Why Stainless Steel?
Pros: Easy to clean and long lasting, it’s considered one of the safest choices for cookware.
Cons: May require some elbow grease to clean – Keep it simple and soak the pans for easier clean up. Also, there is a slight learning curve to using them.
I do 90% of my cooking and baking in a 12″ skillet so I recommend it as an all round pan. Because it’s so adaptable, you can splurge here and have a cooking tool that will last a lifetime. Here are my recommendations for the Best Paleo Cookware.
