Each year many people start off with a New Year’s resolution that reads the same: “Lose weight.”Yet most people don’t get there. The reason is that most people don’t have a plan in place to help them realize their goal of getting fit. Well, this year, it’s time for you to shine and follow through with your weight loss goal.

Long-Term/Short-Term Milestones

Before starting, write down the total amount of weight you want to lose in order to achieve your desired weight for your age, height and body size. Then add in your monthly goals of how much you need to lose each month in order to get to the weight you want within the time period. Creating specific short-term goals will allow you to see the progress you’ve made as you begin to shed the pounds, helping to keep you motivated.

Exercise

There’s no way of getting around it, losing weight will require you to exercise. Luckily, if you prefer not to join a gym, there are other forms of exercise that can provide the same results. The important thing is to do what you enjoy so that you continue to do it. If you like to ride a bike, swim or take a brisk walk, do it, even dancing works almost every part of the body and prevents you from developing saggy skin while losing the weight. Meal Planning

Chances are pretty good that if you have a lot of extra weight on your body, your eating habits are not always healthy. The good news is that you don’t have to give up the foods that you really enjoy. You just have to eat less at each sitting. Patience

Many people who are overweight get discouraged with only a few pounds less to show for their efforts and then say “the heck with this, I’m done.” It’s important to remember that you did not gain the weight overnight and you will not lose it quickly either. However, if you focus on the fact that instead of adding weight you are now losing weight, you can gain inspiration and forge ahead.

Technology gives you access to personal devices that you can wear that encourage you to take more steps to burn more calories and lose the weight. There is a wide range of products that you can wear on your person to help you see the progress and the benefits in real time. Many of these products can also remind you to get up and move around throughout the day.

Many people are overweight. However, this doesn’t mean that you have to remain a member of the club. If you set realistic goals, stay active, monitor your progress and change your eating habits, you will get to your desired weight and maintain it.
