Body fat tends to be a problem that some women just can’t seem to successfully tackle—especially for those women who don’t want to undergo surgery. However, there are a couple of different body sculpting treatments that can help these women—and others—get rid of unwanted fat without a complex diet and exercise regimen or surgery.
Many women have heard the terms Coolsculpting and truSculpt tossed around by cosmetic surgeons and those who have visited a cosmetic surgeon. But that doesn’t mean that they are aware of what these two body sculpting procedures are or how they work.
What is Coolsculpting?
Coolsculpting uses a machine to freeze fat cells in the body. When the fat cells freeze, they die. Over the course of about two months, the fat cells are eliminated through the body. Unlike truSculpt, Coolsculpting can’t be done on any part of the body. This is due to the fact that the treatment can only be completed on areas of the body where fat can be pinched into the cup-like device used to freeze the fat cells.
Coolsculpting can leave patients feeling intense cold and numbness for a few minutes. Many patients do report feeling a bit of discomfort.
Unlike truSculpt, Coolsculpting often requires numerous treatments to see the patient’s desired results.
What is truSculpt?
This non-surgical technique helps remove fat in areas that don’t typically respond well to diet and exercise. truSculpt ID is a safe, effective way to remove up to 24 percent of fat in certain areas of the body. While the treatment can be done on any area of the body, some of the most common treatment areas are the arms and thighs.
In direct opposition to Coolsculpting, truSculpt uses heat to reduce fat in the body. truSculpt heats deep layers of the skin, which causes fat cells to die. These cells are then released through the body’s lymphatic system. As the fat cells die, the patient will look slimmer and notice that inches are removed from that part of the body. Fat cells will start to shrink immediately, but the full results won’t show for a few weeks.
The treatment itself is very fast. It only takes about 15 minutes, while a lot of the similar treatments can take up to an hour. Additionally, many patients will get the results they desire in just one treatment, but multiple treatment sessions may be necessary to get the desired results.
Both of these procedures are non-surgical, which means that they won’t require anesthesia or any time to recover. No missed work makes these two options very appealing to women who can’t sacrifice time off at work.
While both treatment options are great alternatives to surgery, it is recommended that you talk to your doctor about your goals and health history to see which treatment is the best for you.
