As tight lockdown restrictions slowly loosen across the world, we are beginning to consider outdoor life once again. But perhaps it’ll take a long time to feel truly normal.
COVID-19 has affected everyone and it shows in our anxiousness to venture out again.
However, we are ever the optimists; excitement to see our friends again is often enough for us to look forward. Think of the birthdays we’ve missed and occasions that have passed us by — there’s a lot celebrating to catch up on.
And although social distancing rules — whether it’s one meter or two — look set to stay for the time being, there will still be some fun to be had. Entertainment is making a comeback in some shape or form and we need to be ready to make the most of it.
Read on for some great social distanced nights out for when lockdown finally ends.
Go to a casino
Virtual casinos are an effective alternative, but the genuine article is returning and poker enthusiasts can rejoice. But you don’t have to be an expert to enjoy the nuances of a night at the casino. If you’ve watched The Hangover, you know there is something for everyone. That’s why it makes such a perfect night out to celebrate the end of the lockdown.
Moreover, we’ve been cooped up for so long you might as well do it in style, by visiting some of the most iconic venues around the world. If you’re lucky enough to go to Europe, I implore you to take advantage of some of its most historic casinos. London’s Hippodrome, for example, is considered the best casino in London by OnlineCasinos. And you can see why. With the games sprawling across five floors, you’ll never get bored on your night out.
Better yet, you can trust most casinos will be expertly managed, which alleviates stresses around hygiene and social distancing. Take the recently reopened Vegas Strip as an example of what to expect. There are plexiglass dividers around tables, soap dispensers dispersed throughout the buildings, and they operate at half capacity.
Aside from resembling a chapter from a dystopian novel, the new way casinos operate ensures that fun and safety come in tandem with each other.
Host a festival theme garden party
Its been a season of never-ending cancellations for festival-goers. But you can still meet up with your friends and make the most of your time off. Forget about the headliners and switch the muddy field for some speakers and a garden. Hosting a festival themed party is a fantastic way to celebrate the end of lockdown.
Picture the scene: the gazebo is up, burger patties are grilling; you and your mates are sporting neon clothes, with drinks in hand, singing along to Mac Demarco on a portable speaker. I don’t know about you but that sounds like a perfect evening to me.
Hosting a mini-festival for your friends is a great alternative while you wait for next year’s lineups. Additionally, it will be all on your terms, with people you love and trust. So there will be nobody about to ruin the party or fall on your tent.
If COVID-19 has benefited us at all, it would be through our reaffirmation of community spirit. Lockdown has ironically made us all closer and appreciative of loved ones. And a great way to carry that sentiment forwards is to look at where we spend our money.
Spending the night at a drive-in cinema is a more atmospheric way to watch films than staying at home. And the outdoor venue is an ideal way to avoid bustling crowds at a great hulking metroplex.
If we’re honest, we’ve all had enough of Netflix over the past few months. So cuddle up with friends and family and watch your favorite movies from the comfort of your car, like a scene from Grease.
