But instead of relying on unhealthy snacks, why not try some healthy summer recipes? Whether you're one of the 25% of Americans who wait until the last minute to buy gifts and need something to bring to a housewarming party or are hosting a family reunion and need to make food, the following recipes are both yummy and healthy.

Summer is the perfect time of year for pool parties, backyard barbecues, and neighborhood get-togethers. And, of course, no party is complete without some tasty food. But instead of relying on unhealthy snacks, why not try some healthy summer recipes? Whether you’re one of the 25% of Americans who wait until the last minute to buy gifts and need something to bring to a housewarming party or are hosting a family reunion and need to make food, the following recipes are both yummy and healthy.

Grilled Chicken and Avocado Sandwich

Grilling is a popular way to cook all kinds of food during the summer months. But if you’re looking for something healthier than burgers and steak, consider grilling chicken. This chicken and avocado sandwich is perfect for dinner and is easy to make — it also avoids using some of the more common allergens, like peanuts, eggs, and fish. You’ll need:

  • Chicken breasts
  • Rolls of your choice
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp garlic
  • Avocado
  • Lime juice

Remove the inside of the avocado and mash, adding in lime juice and other desired seasonings — set aside. Put olive oil, paprika, and garlic on the chicken and place the chicken on the grill. Cook for about six minutes per side or until the chicken is cooked all the way through. Once the meat is cooked, spread some avocado on the rolls, add the chicken and toppings of your choosing and enjoy!

Frozen Yogurt Fruit Cups

Frozen treats are a staple of the summer season — but instead of ice cream or popsicles, you should make frozen yogurt fruit cups. These sweet treats are much healthier and just as tasty. To make these, you’re going to need:

  • Yogurt of your choice
  • Fruit of your choice
  • Baking cups

The best thing about these treats is that they can be completely customized. If you’re one of the 76% of Americans who buy organic food for the health benefits, consider visiting your local farmer’s market for some fresh, organic fruit. Play around with different flavor combinations and simply place the fruit in the yogurt and put the cups in the freezer for around three hours.

Grilled Cinnamon Pinneapple

One of the best summer fruits is pineapple — but instead of just eating it plain, consider putting it on the grill and covering it in honey and cinnamon for a delicious dessert. All you’ll need is:

  • Pinneapple, sliced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Lime juice
  • Vanilla ice cream

Mix together the honey, cinnamon, and some lime juice — place the pineapple slices in the mixture and let them marinate for about two hours. Then, either on the grill or on a grill pan, place the pineapple slices on medium heat and grill on each side for about two minutes. Once they’re done, top the pineapple slices with some vanilla ice cream, drizzling some extra honey on top.

Summer is a great time to have fun with your food. So consider whipping up one, or all, of these dishes for your next gathering for a healthy and tasty dish.
