It’s time for you to plan a mom’s getaway. Sometimes a spontaneous trip with some of your best friends can be good for the soul. It may be one of the most relaxing trips you’ll ever take in your life because there are no kids around.
You don’t even have to splurge on the perfect getaway. You could have a kids-free sleepover at your girlfriend’s house if that’s what you prefer. Just spend a few days watching cheesy movies and drinking champagne. Or, you can go to wine country if you want.
Here’s how you can plan the ultimate mom’s getaway:
Make the Jump
Just make a plan of action. It’s so easy to push it aside due to your day-to-day responsibilities. The hardest part of planning a mom’s getaway is to make it happen and book the trip. You know that it’s something you deserve it and you need it, but turning the idea into reality is another story. Just make the jump and book the trip. But make sure to let your friends know first.
Make it All About You
It’s time to get a little selfish. You dedicate most of your life to your friends and family. Now it’s time to focus on you. Plan the vacation of your dreams. It can be a trip to Walt Disney World vacation or a trip to the Bahamas. Plan a trip that focuses on your desires and need for change.
If you love to drink wine, then go to wine country during your mom getaway. Or, you can have a relaxing weekend at the spa if that’s more your thing. If you like hiking, check out the state forest. Or, you can send your family away for a few days and enjoy the house to yourself. Don’t forget to include the girls.
Pack three or four essentials that you can mix-and-match and wear during your trip. When packing your clothes, don’t forget the shoes. Some of the best travel shoes for women include treaded sandals and walking sneakers. There are plenty of flat options if neither of these is your style.
Don’t forget the hangover prevention pill packet if you plan to drink. You should include them in your first aid kit!
Disconnect from Electronics
Disconnect from electronics and social media during your getaway. Turn off the notifications, log off those social media accounts, and ignore those text messages. It’s time to take a timeout and relax. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t call home to check in on your family. But you should trust the person who’s in charge and know that everything is fine. You don’t want to spend most of your time worrying about your children on your getaway. Sometimes calling home too much makes for irritable kids.
Buy Some Souvenirs
Don’t forget to bring back some souvenirs for your loved ones. Depending on the circumstances, your kids might be pretty bummed out to hear their mom gets to spend a few days soaking in the sun on a beach without them. Soften the blow by bringing back a fun toy or novelty t-shirt. The same can be said for your spouse who got left to run the house alone for a few days. They’d sure appreciate something interesting from your travels as well.
Moms need to be there for their kids. But that doesn’t mean they can’t get away now and then. Plan accordingly to have a great time and come home happy.
