However, many people stay away from sugar for other reasons as well, most importantly its role in weight gain.

Sugar makes you fat. Plain and simple. If you eat too much of sugar or sugary foods, it will cause you to gain weight, which can be difficult to lose.

So what should you do if you love sugar but you do not want to get out of shape? You turn to desserts that are delicious but not fattening. Yes, such a thing exists.

If your sweet tooth cravings get out of control and you’re looking for healthier alternatives, then look no further. We have six amazing dessert recipe for you:

Maple Cinnamon Applesauce

This is extremely healthy as all it uses is maple syrup as sweetener and takes only 20 mins. It can be eaten with pancakes and waffles to enhance the taste. It’s also a much simpler treat than Paleo Cinnamon Rolls.

  • 3 Granny Smith or pippin apples
  • Just a dash of sea salt
  • Ground cinnamon (1 tbsp.)
  • Red apples (3)
  • Lemon juice (1 tbsp.)
  • Maple syrup (¼ cup)

Peel and chop the apples into small chunks. Put cinnamon, lemon juice, maple syrup and apple chunks in a saucepan. Cover the saucepan and let the mixture simmer for about 12 minutes, so that the apples can soften and soak the mixture.

Uncover the saucepan and keep stirring the mixture to break apple chunks until they fully dissolve.

Take the saucepan off the stove and taste it, but be careful as it might be hot. You can add more lemon juice or maple syrup if it is not according to your taste.

You can serve it warm or chilled, however make sure that you let it sit at room temperature before you put it in the fridge.

Note: You can also use honey in place of maple syrup.

Paleo Strawberry Crumble
