When you’re so busy trying to please your significant other, children, employer, family, friends, and the world around you, where do you find the time to care for yourself? For most people, the answer is - you don’t. Taking care of yourself is often put on the back burner or neglected. Though it’s important to be there for those who rely on you, not taking some time to put yourself first will backfire.

When you’re so busy trying to please your significant other, children, employer, family, friends, and the world around you, where do you find the time to care for yourself? For most people, the answer is – you don’t. Taking care of yourself is often put on the back burner or neglected. Though it’s important to be there for those who rely on you, not taking some time to put yourself first will backfire.

If you’re not doing things regularly for your own self-care, it can take a toll on your physical and mental well-being. Whether you realize it or not, your mind, body, and soul need to be cared for on a daily basis to keep functioning properly. Incorporating, even the smallest practices of self-care like the ones listed below can make a big difference.

Start Your Day with Water

When you’re dehydrated you might notice increased fatigue, brain fog, headaches, and dizziness to name a few. Additionally, after catching up on some zzzs, it’s been 6-8 hours since you last had water. Update your morning routine to start or day off right with a glass of water. You can even add lemon for increased detoxing results.

Meditate for Five Minutes

The mind is often cluttered with so many things that it can begin to take effect on the body. You can relieve emotional tension and mental pressure by meditating for at least five minutes every day. The deep breaths and quiet environment help to improve your mood and lighten your mental load. Meditation allows you to let go of cluttering thoughts and focus on the positive. To reinforce this, use a mantra, repeat affirmations, or even motivational quotes from celebrities like Maxime Lagacé.

Treat Yourself

When is the last time you went out and got yourself something nice? As long as you’re not breaking the bank in the process, buying things for yourself is a great way to boost your mood and self-esteem. Even something as simple as a few new bras or panties can make you feel more confident and comfortable.

Pamper Yourself

You deserve to pamper yourself on occasion. It’s nice to be able to do something luxurious that brings a smile to your face. Whether you reserve spa dates for a massage, soak in the bathtub with scented candles or invest in a 3 person infrared sauna for regular detoxification, it goes a long way in healing both the mind and body. You can read more about the best infrared saunas here.

Get Active

No matter how jam-packed you believe your schedule is, find time to be active. Engaging in physical activities are necessary for your physical and mental well-being. Wake up a few minutes early every morning and do yoga, go for a walk during lunch, sign up for a fitness class after work, or find ways to get active around the house like cleaning or playing around with the kids.

Taking care of and being there for everyone else is admirable, but taking care of you should come first. What you don’t realize is that if you’re not caring for your own body, mind, and soul, eventually, you won’t be able to do anything for anyone else. So, start looking for little ways you can give back to the person who matters most – you.
