It has been understood all around the world, thanks to the endless efforts of climate change activists, that our earth is unable to sustain humanity under present conditions. All kinds of harmful materials and gases are destroying the human-friendly climate of the earth making it uninhabitable even as we speak, all because of human activities. The massive use of plastic is among the most damaging materials destroying our climate.

However, we understood it and we saw an above 90% decrease in single-use plastic bags in our supermarkets and shopping centers in a relatively short span of time. All of this became possible due to government efficiency in banning the use of plastic bags and awareness spread among the masses through numerous sources. Recent years have seen a massive rise in the use of cotton tote bags as an eco-friendly alternative to plastic bags. Every kind of business from clothing brands to supermarkets has shifted to this more viable option.

Some critics have challenged the environmental friendliness of tote bags claiming that they are not as good for the climate as we think them to be. When we compare tote bags with plastic bags and the harmful impact they were having on the environment as a whole let alone the oceans, their claim seems to be a little absurd. Although we can point out that tote bags are made using a considerable amount of water and energy as they are made from cotton, they are currently the most viable mass available option we have.

But the real problem lies in using more tote bags than we need. If a new tote bag is used every time, you go shopping, there will be a huge number of tote bags in circulation which may create a problem. Having a collection of tote bags will be harmful to us and the planet, negating the promising beneficial impacts it has over plastic bags. Their whole point is to use them, wash them, and repeat.

It is also claimed that tote bags are difficult to recycle given the logos and messages printed on them can’t be recycled which results in wasting at least 15% of them. But it should not be ignored that instead of wasting 100%, 15% wastage is still far better for us and the environment.Despite all the claims and arguments against the environmental impacts of tote bags, they are still the best option for the environment. A lot depends on the producer of the product, tote bag factory is one such who employs latest methods to minimize the natural cost of the end-product. Their plus point is that they are reusable and can be reused again and again for longer periods. Using tote bags as disposable ones will only kill the whole purpose of having them in the first place. Moreover, with ever-improving technology, recycling them is not an issue anymore. The key is to use tote bags as many times as possible and then recycle them. Thus, their environmental footprint will be reduced further and the need for raw materials and resources to make new ones will be met adequately.
