The holidays are a great time to get together with loved ones for brunch. If this is your first time hosting a holiday brunch, you may wonder exactly what you need to pull off a stellar event.

Not only do you need to make sure there is a balance between sweet and savory options, but a huge part of a successful brunch is the room’s atmosphere during the meal. These six things are must-haves for every brunch.

Coffee bar

Nothing says “morning meal” better than a good cup of coffee. Nearly everyone takes their coffee a different way, so creating a perfect beverage for brunch can be difficult. A great way to make sure that everyone has a drink they will enjoy is to create a coffee bar.

You can buy coffee online to get your base coffee. The bar should also include a few milk options, such as cream and dairy-free milk. Flavored syrups such as vanilla and hazelnut are classic choices, but you could also add some seasonal syrups such as eggnog and peppermint.

You can also add hot chocolate and tea to your coffee bar to ensure even non-coffee drinkers can create a delicious drink.

Baked goods

Brunch staples often include baked goods such as breads, sweet rolls, and scones. These are typically where the sweet options come in, but there can also be savory baked goods.

Have a variety of things here. Pancakes, waffles, and french toast are great basic items. You could also get more creative by adding homemade cinnamon rolls or scones.

Egg dishes

Brunch isn’t complete without some eggs. There are many different egg dishes, from deviled eggs and frittatas to simple scrambled eggs. Try a few egg dishes and embrace the savory flavors that you can mix with eggs.

Meat options

Meat options are a great way to add more variety to your brunch. You can go classic with bacon and sausage or mix it up a little by doing salmon. Vegetarian or vegan meat substitutes are also great for non-meat eaters.

Variety is a great thing here to make sure guests all have something they enjoy. Add different meat options to other dishes with eggs or a breakfast casserole.

Casserole

Baking up something in a casserole dish is a great way to provide a lot of flavor with minimal cookware. Casseroles are a great way to create both sweet and savory dishes.

If you want to make french toast but don’t have the time to fry up a slice for each guest, you can always turn it into a casserole dish. The same can be said for eggs and meat. They can be thrown together into a delicious savory casserole.

Decor

While the food is the centerpiece of brunch, you should also create a good atmosphere. Adding holiday decorations to your kitchen and dining room can take your brunch to the next level.

Before you go

Hosting a holiday brunch can be incredibly fun and rewarding, but deciding what you need is overwhelming. Make sure these six must-haves are covered to ensure everyone at your table is happy and satisfied.
