Hosting a game of poker at home is an exciting event. Yet, it is not just a case of inviting people around for cards and drinks. The best poker nights showcase their host’s exquisite hospitality, and that involves serving up some delicious snacks and tasty treats. In this article, we dive into some of the best foods to serve at a poker night.

Cheese and Charcuterie Board

If you are a regular at poker nights, then this board can really surprise your guests, who may just be expecting some chips and dips. When you are hosting your first event, it really sets the tone of the evening. Poker is now extremely popular, mainly due to the ability to play online from the comfort of the home. There are plenty of online poker reviews that help people find websites to play at. They also provide guides and strategies to improve the players’ games. If this is the first time many of your participants are stepping from the screen to a physical game, then a cheese and charcuterie board creates an informal atmosphere for them to relax.

Charcuterie is a method of assembling and displaying cooked meats along with other savory treats. The word comes from French and literally means ‘pork butcher shop’. However, it is not just an array of pepperoni and hams. These boards should also include cheeses, along with olives, nuts, dried fruits, chopped fresh fruit like apples, and crackers. You may also wish to put condiments on the side, like chutneys and paste.

The best thing about this is that it requires very little in the way of cooking. However, the cheese and meats can soon add up in price. It will feed a lot of people though, and you may be surprised how quickly the board is devoured!

While the board above allows people to pick and choose when they eat, wings are a definite food to serve during your break. You can also buy a whole load of wings relatively cheaply if you visit a wholesaler. Bake them in the oven to make them healthier, and you can even set them on low at the start of the evening and take them out at half-time.

The joy of wings is that you can divide them and marinate each in an array of flavors. Start with a mild lemon and herb, then work your way up to a spicy heat. Serve with fries and some optional hot sauce

Loaded Nachos or Fries

Loaded nachos or fries are another messy food, but well worth it. It all depends on your preferences. You can load them up with cheese, make a hearty bolognese, chili, or go for a cheesesteak-style topping. Make sure you have plenty of fried onions and peppers to go with the topping and serve with an array of sauces once again.

You can of course serve all of these, depending on the size of your poker night. Don’t forget the drinks, or ask the guests to bring some with them. All you need to do after this is brush up on your poker strategy and get started!
