If you want to start leading a healthier life, here are a few changes you can easily make.

Eat Local

The fewer miles your food has to travel before it arrives on your plate, the better. That’s why it’s so important to support your local grocers and farmers! If your city or town runs a farmer’s market on a weekly basis, try to get your produce from it. Not only will it help you save a little bit of money, but you’ll be taking a solid step towards directly supporting local farmers and grocers. And if you’re really ready to eat a little closer to home, don’t rule out starting your own garden. In fact, the number one reason almost 30% of people garden is to have high-quality, fresh vegetables available to them right at home. Again, this is an excellent way to eliminate the distance between you and your food while saving a ton of money. The best part? When you shop with local farmers and grow your own food, you’ll be eating a seasonally-appropriate diet. And when your diet evolves with the seasons, you’ll likely begin to see that there are plenty of vegetables you’ve never even tried before. Expanding your culinary horizons is a healthy habit to get into, too.

Exercise Regularly

Your body needs to move in order to stay healthy. And you’ll find that when you move, you’ll feel better in your body. The key is exercising in a way that’s challenging enough, but also safe for your body. This is especially important if you have a family history of problems like arthritis or other joint issues. If you’re not sure what the best way to get moving is, it’s worth looking into a few sessions with a personal trainer. Together, you can figure out the best way to keep your body moving in a safe and productive way. It’s okay if traditional workouts aren’t really your thing! Dancing, walking, and evne cleaning your house provide excellent opportunities to get up and move your body. If you enjoy the exercise you’re getting and feel like you’re challenging yourself a little bit each day, then you’ve got this.

Make Sleep a Priority

Sleep is one of the most important requirements for a healthy life. The time we spend sleeping at night allows our bodies to rest and recover from the day. Your brain needs that time to process the day’s events too, which means sleep is essential for improving and maintaining your mental health. Not sure whether you’re getting enough sleep or not? Turns out that adults need seven to nine hours of sleep every night. So if you’re getting less than seven hours of sleep per night, it’s time to change up your bedtime routine. If you have trouble falling asleep, consider eliminating screens at least an hour before bed. Reading before bed or completing a relaxing nighttime ritual can also help you fall asleep and stay asleep. Exercise can also help you out here. When you sleep enough, you’ll definitely notice a difference in how you feel throughout the day.

Leading a healthier life doesn’t have to be an impossible challenge, and you don’t have to be perfect in order to be healthy. Making a few simple changes to your daily life can make all the difference in the world.
