paleo pregnancy supplements

In January, we discovered that a new baby Bejelly was on the way. ย I won’t be shy in admitting that I was scared. ย My last pregnancy with The Little was rough. ย I was sick the entire time and towards the end my anxiety and panic attacks were back to pre-paleo levels.

Before that pregnancy, I had never understood the feeling of helplessness. ย My first pregnancy scarred me but I do believe there is a lesson in everything. ย  ย When I found out about this new life growing in me, I vowed to:

1) Laugh everyday, no matter how much I felt like roadkill.

2) To let go of everyday. ย I held onto the fear of my first pregnancy for 4 years! I was only pregnant for 9 months and yet I was still living in the pain and fear of it.

3) Take my pregnancy supplements every day.

4) Sleep as much as humanly possible. ย I am very blessed to be able to sleep 10 hours a night which I KNOW has helped me feel as well as I do now (Pst. Check out my Sleep Miracle Book here).

I won’t lie, my first trimester with this Little Guy was NOT FUN. ย It was pretty much a carbon copy of my first trimester with The Little. ย I felt like death run over and my sense of smell was so strong that I had to wear a ventilated painters mask to get through the day. ย However, I am feeling blessed and so much better now and I know that my pregnancy supplements helped! Seriously, with the Little I was so sick, I barely took any supplements until the very end. ย  If I skip more than two days (yes sometimes I don’t feel well enough to take them every day), I feel it mentally. ย Now before you jump in, I am NOT a Doctor. ย If you have any questions about what is the best supplement for you, talk to your Midwife or OB.

dessicatedliver

My #1 Favorite Supplement is Desiccated Liver

I ‘m crazy in ย love Perfect Supplement’s Desiccated Liver. ย I started taking it last Summer and I noticed within a week how much better I felt mentally and psychically. ย  ย For the first time in 4 years, I felt ย “normal”.

I can say the same thing is true for me now. ย For me, this is the first time I’ve ever felt “not pregnant” while being pregnant. ย  Mama’s you know what I’m talking about. I take 3 to 4 pills a day.

pregnancy fish oil

I’ve been taking Omegvia fish oil for several years because it works for me.

ย In the past, I had tried Fermented Cod Liver oil and I didn’t have any success withย using it to calm my anxiety. ย  This works and I love that it’s made fromย  anchovy, menhaden, sardine, and mackerel from Peru and USA. I take 1 to 2 pills a day.

prenatal vitamin

First, I hate taking vitamins that require three pills at different times. I barely can remember to shop for groceries right now, nonetheless follow some crazy vitamin schedule where I have to take 3 to 4 pills a day.

ย I really like the SimplyOne PreNatal. ย It’s food based and one of the few prenatal vitamins that I’ve seen that has a good source of iodine included.

pregnancy probiotic

Last but not least, I take a daily probiotic. ย I’ve been taking Bio-Kult for a while so I just kept it in regular rotation.

  1. The desiccated liver sounds interesting and worth looking into. It is also worth mentioning that ladies with MTHFR mutation should be taking methylfolate and not folic acid.
