For the last few decades, there’s been a worldwide directive toward going all-healthy in as many fields as possible, cookware included. And while the process hasn’t been easy, innovative brands like Caraway inched it closer to attainability.
Caraway offers healthy cookware that it deems safer than other alternatives. Its products are non-toxic, non-sticking, and free of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), a chemical commonly used to coat non-stick cookware.
But how honest are these statements? And where does the ever-famous Caraway cookware set stand in terms of quality?
I’ll answer these questions and more in my Caraway cookware review, so let’s jump in!
Caraway combines elegance, practicality, and safety in its top-notch cookware set. The set includes a frying pan, saucepan, sauté pan, and dutch oven. Many colors are available, like gray, navy, sage, cream, and red. So you can choose one that complements your kitchen design.
The Caraway cookware set is a solid purchase for people who want a safe option for their families and don’t mind a dash of luxurious elegance along the way.
Pros:
- Easy to clean
- Non-sticking
- Non-toxic
- Ideal heat conductivity
- Versatile
Cons:
- A tad pricier than other similar options
- Not dishwasher-safe
- Outside of the pan stain
Manufacturing Materials
Manufacturing materials are where the Caraway set shines among competitors. The set is manufactured from aluminum, and the handles and bases are made from stainless steel. As for the exteriors, the Caraway pans and ovens have polished matte enamel finishes that’ll add a touch of elegance to your kitchen.
The insides of Caraway’s high-quality cookware are coated with non-sticking ceramic. But, unlike many similar sets, the Caraway pots and pans don’t have any PTFEs in their manufacturing materials. Check out AllCookwareFind for more information on ceramic.
While there isn’t scientific evidence that PTFEs are toxic, there have been a few health-related theories over the years that are enough to make you stay away from them. Also, unlike PTFEs that release toxic fumes when heated to 572°F, the ceramic Caraway set guarantees total safety till the oven reaches 800°F.
The set has interior mineral-based finishes to guarantee the food doesn’t stick. Additionally, the high-quality materials of this set render it safe to use on electric and gas stovetops.
And thanks to the stainless steel plate that adorns each Caraway pan, the set is also compatible with induction stoves. However, the utensils might move a little on top of the stove because their bases aren’t flat.
Heat Distribution
The Caraway nonstick cookware set provides heat distribution and guarantees an equally-cooked, non-burnt dinner. When you use the skillet, you’ll notice that the heat distributes perfectly across its bottom till it reaches the walls, guaranteeing that any food you put in gets cooked evenly.
Also, you can say goodbye to your sauces and dressings scorching from over-heated saucepans. All Caraway pans have steady temperatures that don’t spike, causing your sauce to go all brown. This feature also decreases the need to stir constantly, which can be irritating during cooking. And the saucepan’s lid has a small hole to allow the steam to escape.
The same goes for the rest of the ceramic cookware set.
Ease of Use

Another bonus point that the Caraway ceramic-coated cookware set provides is the ease of use. This means that you can move the pots and pans smoothly from one stove to another while cooking, all thanks to the pot handles. The Caraway pot handles don’t heat as much as the lid handles, so you can easily grab them without burning your hands.
While all Caraway pieces are oven-friendly, you can’t use the pans under the broiler. So it’ll be best if you say goodbye to crispy toppings.
Unlike many traditional nonstick cookware pieces, the Caraway pots and pans are induction stoves friendly. However, let me warn you that the bottoms aren’t flat, which drives the possibility of a slipping accident up a notch.
And while we’re here, let’s answer an important question: is the Caraway cookware dishwasher-safe?
Sadly, no, it isn’t. This is the only part where the Caraway cookware set pales against competitors. Unfortunately, you’ll have to carefully hand-wash it if you purchase it. That said, washing ceramic nonstick cookware is easy since you won’t have to deal with stuck food remnants and burns.
It’s worth mentioning that you should ideally use non-abrasive scrubbing sponges to keep the ceramic nonstick coating safe.
Also, as someone who cooks a lot on my glass top range, the bottoms of the pans do stain.
I knew this before I received the pans and even with this issue, I still love and highly recommend them. I have NEVER experienced pans that cook this well, and it’s a trade-off. You need to take this into account before you purchase these pans.
Safety
The Caraway cookware set guarantees safety for all its users with its healthy manufacturing materials. For starters, the nonstick cookware doesn’t have any heavy metals like cadmium and lead, PFAs, PTFEs, or PFOAs.
The manufacturers also don’t use hard anodization in the manufacturing process of the nonstick pans and pots.
Availability
Caraway is a direct-to-consumer (DTC) brand, which means you can purchase its products through its online website without resorting to retailers. Considering the increased prices of retailers, this is a bonus point for people with limited budgets.
You should probably know that Caraway offers only one cookware set, so you won’t need to skim its website for hours before settling on a product. While this point is a downside for people who like having options, it saves time and confusion.

What’s in the Box
The Caraway cookware set box comes carrying a 10.5-inch fry pan, a 6.5-quart dutch oven, a 4.5-quart sauté pan and a three-quart saucepan. All four come with their lids. Not only these, but it also comes with two surprises to make it easier for you to store them.
The first is magnetic pan racks, one for each piece of Caraway cookware. This way, you can flaunt your pans elegantly in your kitchen or keep them organized inside your cabinet.
The second surprise is a canvas lid holder. The pan racks will only take the Caraway cookware without lids. So as an easy solution to storing lids, you’ll have a holder that you can hang anywhere in your kitchen.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Have to Use Large Amounts of Oil to Maintain the Non-Stick Surface of the Caraway Utensils?
No, you don’t have to use large amounts of oil to avoid sticking your food to the pan’s bottom. The Caraway set, all the way from the frying pan to the dutch oven, allows the food to slide freely, even if you use only a few oil drops.
Is Ceramic Good for Cooking?
Yes, ceramic is an ideal material for cooking because it doesn’t react with anything and doesn’t require harmful chemicals in its manufacturing process. It also requires less oil during cooking than other utensils. So technically, it causes you to cook healthier food.
Can I Buy Each Caraway Utensil on Its Own?
Yes, you can, but I don’t recommend it. Buying the entire set is more budget-friendly. Also, cooking all your sauces and meats in the same materials will help you become a better chef as you’ll know what temperatures to use.
Are the Caraway Ceramic Utensils Heavy or Lightweight?
The Caraway ceramic utensils are somewhat heavy, but you may not even notice this because of their easy-to-grip stainless steel handles.
What Is the Best Caraway Utensil to Cook Delicate Foods?
You can use the Caraway saucepan or frying pan for cooking delicate foods like omelets and pancakes. But I prefer using the frying pan because of its large size.
To Wrap Up
Have you been thinking about purchasing the Caraway cookware set? If so, let me tell you that it’s a top-notch set made from safe materials, has nonstick surfaces, and is very easy to use and clean. You can now say goodbye to burnt meals and spend hours scrubbing food remnants from pans and pots.
There’s no denying that it’s pricier than other options, but its excellent performance and heat distribution will compensate you for this downside.
Now that you know all the pros and cons of the Caraway set, you can decide whether it’s suitable for you or not!
