cowboy burgers

Ok, sometimes I daydream that Mr. Bejelly is a cowboy and after a long day of riding the ranch wrangling cattle, he comes to a hot meal I spent all day whipping up for him.

Then reality hits and I realize I’m not really into animal husbandry.  I don’t want to live on a ranch and I am the queen of easy, 30 minute recipes.

So instead of buying 100 acres in Texas, I decided to make a keto cowboy burger that is spicy and meaty.

No one will be able to resist this burger combination of ground beef, cheddar cheese, bacon, and spicy jalapeno! It's one tasty (and simple) cowboy burger recipe that everyone will love.

This burger is zero carb and guaranteed to brings the cowboy home every night.

What you need to make this Recipe:

  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 Teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded and diced

Place the bacon in your food processor and process until you have a rough crumble. Scoop this into a bowl with the rest of the ingredients.

With your hands mix the ingredients together until well combined and form into 4 large patties, roughly 4” x ½” thick. Set aside. Place a skillet over medium high heat and add the burgers.

Cook for until browned on one side, roughly 5 minutes and flip and repeat. Serve on lettuce leaves with condiments of choice.

Notes and Variations

You can easily swap out the ground beef for ground turkey or ground chicken.

I’ve never added cheese into the actual patty but I need to try it. I bet it’s delicious!

These look like the ultimate burger, and I definitely agree with the no desire to be a rancher, especially since I live in the middle of ranching country – it’s crazy hard work!

Hey, don’t knock the 100 acres in Texas. 😉 As a native Texan who grew up on a ranch, I can say with authority that these sound delicious!

Is the bacon raw or cooked? I assume it is cooked, as you mention crumbles…
